The clients approached us to extend their existing living area, to create an open-plan space suitable for the whole family. This included the provision of a play room for the kids, and a large outdoor terrace for entertaining. The design took the form of a flat roof extension with a zinc band and a cedar cladding insert, with a large sliding glazed door with openable side panels connecting the new kitchen and dining spaces with the terrace and garden beyond. A large flat rooflight draws light in from above.
