A red-brick detached house in Rathfarnham has been opened up on all sides to let in natural light and the spectacular views of the Dublin Mountains. A single-storey extension was added to the rear to provide an open-plan living space, and the main entrance was moved from the front corner to a more commanding central position, connecting with the stairwell and the golf course views beyond. The stairwell itself was entirely refurbished, and opened up into the living space to create a dramatic vertical void. The remainder of the house was redecorated, while the back garden was landscaped to provide an outdoor living space.
